A Frustrating Saturday

Hi all,

Reporting in on a very frustrating Saturday spent watching the lads play against Petersfield who beat us by 3 goals to 2 at Garden Walk.

We had a great chance to remain with the leaders today but we blew it!

In fairness to them they were a vastly improved team to the one we beat so convincingly earlier in the season. We certainly had enough chances to at least get a draw from the game but alarmingly the lack of marking especially at set plays has cost us dearly.

It’s back to the training area for us both Tuesday and Thursday this week to rectify our immediate failings.

The boys are a talented group who on their day can beat anyone in the league but we need to stop these odd “Off Days” chances need to be taken and clean sheets have to be the order of the day regularly.

It’s not the end of the World, we have enough time and points to play for but a more clinical approach is required!

A welcome to Simon Thomas who has joined us from Tonbridge. Simon has had a mixed season, moving to several clubs recently. He needs a base to get back to his best. The more minutes he gets, I’m sure he will get to the levels he and us want him to be at!
Two absentees unfortunately in Della and George Powell. George has decided to leave us mainly due to work commitments and I wish him all the best, hopefully next season he will be able to devote more time to his football. Della, who knows how long he will be out. Yet again a speedy recovery is wished by us all.

I believe it’s time to keep the faith with the team. We have some excellent players and we can easily go on a massive unbeaten run similar to last year!

Lastly a special thank you to Lewis Endacott who typically stepped in to offer his services as a sub to help us out over the last two games. Top man Lew!
Thank you.

Cheers,
SC
