A Good Week
A good week for the “Crows” with 8 goals scored and only one conceded against two teams only slightly below us in the table.
The manner that these victories were won was the most pleasing. Both away from home so arguably harder but the professional attitude shown by everyone was amazing!!
A special mention to our “Reserve” goalkeeper in Mayson Tewkesbury! Mayson has this season performed admirably in the second team. Ron Yates was unavailable due to a family commitment so Mayson was called upon to come into the first team game at Northwood.
I have to be honest here and say I did make a few calls to Pro clubs in regards to getting a keeper in for one game. It’s not that I don’t trust Mayson but with the importance of the match I felt if we could get a top class goalkeeper then I would. Crystal Palace had an Australian international as did Fulham but both deals broke down. I could have got a youth lad in but in my mind if I couldn’t get a sufficiently high profile guy in then I would give our own young lad his opportunity!!
Well, boy did he take his chance. At 1-0 up we gave away a few kick just outside of our area, the ball got crossed into our box. Mayson came out to collect but as well as getting the ball, clashed with their centre forward. I don’t think we could argue with the decision.
We were looking at being pegged back to 1-1.
I’m so pleased to tell you not only did Mayson save the penalty, he set an attack up which led to our second goal.
From there on, he and us didn’t look back. For us to achieve a ” Clean sheet” was the catalyst of our win and for me a hard choice for the No.1 jersey next Saturday!!
As said though we take each week as they come. Not getting too carried away if we win but not too down if not.
Yet again thank you for everyone’s support, the lads and staff really appreciate it!
