Disappointing Cup Exit

Very few positives to come out of today in the FA Cup.

Being beaten by a team at the same level at home is a bad result but beaten by the margin we did is inexcusable!!

Massive apologies on behalf of the players and management to everyone supporting the club!

To say that we shot ourselves in the foot is an understatement and although their first goal was a tremendous strike, all were preventable.

Going in at 3-0 down at halftime gave us a mountain to climb. We were going down the slope and took the game to them, creating a few opportunities whilst trying to push proceedings. Several changes were made to further push on. We managed to get one back but then once more conceded a goal that was of our own doing rather than good play by the opposition.

Previously in the league our defence has been solid and our midfield has been superior but not today.

The front line has been shuffled around because of our lack of goals. Josh Castiglione showed positives signs and a returning Simon Thomas got a goal which is what we are requiring!

A quick note on Simon. Previously he came to us and although scoring 11 goals in 19 games lacked the work rate and desire needed. Simon is fully aware that he needs to win over the Crows faithful. As a manager I feel everybody deserves a second chance and when “Thomo” rang me, declaring the desire to prove himself and us struggling for goals I felt it could be good timing.

The squad has also been added by the inclusion of John Frendo. John will score goals, that I’m sure. He is coming out of premature retirement so may need a few weeks find his feet but once he does I’m sure he will score plenty.

The lads know that with Adam Murray coming back as well as Stu Bridges, competition will be fierce.

Back to the League on Saturday. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about today’s result, all we can do is remain undefeated and start picking 3 points.

Once again sorry!!
