Lessons Learned

We went over to Hemel today to take on a high flying Conference South team and although for long periods we matched them the finishing of the opposition was superior to ours. That and the fact we gave possession away too easily in vital areas produced a convincing win for Hemel by 4 goals to 1.

Not good from our perspective but hopefully tough lessons learned especially for the young lads in the squad.

The ability is there but at the moment the belief that they can compete with lads at this level isn’t sufficient to win regularly.

As I said to the boys after, it’s not the staff believing in their abilities that’s the problem, because we do but their own belief in themselves and team mates around them should be a lot higher!

That said, we rested some 1st team regulars to again give squad lads an opportunity to excel.

On to Tuesday’s league cup tie against Kempston. The league is one we have identified to push on in and hopefully the rest will benefit certain players. After that the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Trophy against Leatherhead. We had a reasonable run in it last year, a repeat would be fantastic.

We will be slightly behind in League matches but they will fitted in soon so a really busy schedule to come.
Cheers
