An Interesting Time Ahead
Happy New Year to everyone, players, supporters and staff from Chris and I.
Our recent form has brought us plenty of points and shoved us up the table to a healthy 8th place still with games in hand over most teams around us!
Team selection will be tough, as it should be with all the players putting in good, solid performances but there are so many games coming up in both January and February that a strong squad is needed.
What we as management are particularly pleased with are the wins over Hitchin and Tiverton. Beating these teams that are around us shows we can warrant being as high in the League as we are, the upcoming matches are predominantly against lower-half clubs so the expectancy is for us to get more positive results. Doesn’t always work out as smooth as that and I know Dunstable for one will be fighting for their lives to upset the outcome. We have to contend with this, match them in attitude and then let our undoubted talent shine through.
An interesting time ahead for us, plenty of matches to be played and hopefully more progression up the League. This season hasn’t been like our previous years where we were always top or thereabouts. Now, we have taken a while to settle and gain the belief needed to mount a challenge in a League higher.
If we maintain our recent performance levels and can compete in every game, we could push ourselves in to play-off places or even higher. At the moment it looks like two or three teams could pull away but there’s so much football to be played and clubs playing against each other, both can’t win so points will be dropped. We need to be in a position that we nick points off the top teams, look to beat teams lower than us and keep our belief and we could make it an interesting conclusion.
Cheers for now,
SC
