Some Hard Work To Be Done

Not a great start from us this season with two draws and a defeat to our name. So a “ Must do better” message from management to playing staff.

It could have been so different, the first match, could and maybe should have gone our way. The second match, some really great passages of play but lapses of defensive qualities cost us dear with our opponents scoring five goals from their six attempts at goal. And then today, another poor goal to concede, only for us to pull two back to lead the match but yet again our failure to stop crosses coming into our box cost us dearly and now we stand at two points from three games which for a squad the quality we have is disappointing to say the least!

Very early days, no excuses we know we should have done better but the boy have shown us staff enough to be positive about and also enough negatives to coach for improvement.

Several lads to mention that are not playing at the moment. Joe Welch, making steady progress from his hernia operation, hopefully two weeks. Spyros Mentis who has had to do National Service in his native Cyprus and should be available inside a fortnight and poor Sam Corcoran who is serving an outstanding ban from last year and he has three matches still to serve.

So some important players to come back in to make stronger and with a few “Niggley” injuries certain players have picked up I’m sure all lads will be needed.

So not all doom and gloom, some hard work to be done and that is what we will be doing, starting with a cup tie at Cheshunt on Tuesday. As previously said in my last blog these players process some incredible skills and generally have great attitude so to get these boys back into winning ways I’m sure won’t take long.

Onwards and upwards eh!!

Cheers,
SC
