A first half hat trick from David Mooney ensured Royston safely secured their passage into the next round of the FA Trophy.
It was Thame who opened the scoring as Lynton Goss turned in Liam Tuck’s cross in the 13th minute.
Royston’s response was immediate as three minutes later Mooney volleyed in Jordan Norville-Williams cut back. Mooney’s second arrived in the 36th minute as he finished well after good work from James Potton. The hat trick goal arrived in the 42nd minute as a fine flowing team move was rounded off by Mooney to give the Crows a 3-1 half time lead.
Royston continued to control the game and scored a 4th as Jamie Essex turned the ball into his own net. Four became five as a spectacular scissor kick from Spyros Mentis found the top corner. Thame however had the last word as Tack found the bottom corner in the 83rd minute to round off an entertaining afternoon’s football.
