TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – August 18th & 19th
Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women and Royston Town Reserves.
First up, Royston Town are on the road when they travel to Suffolk to take on AFC Sudbury in the Southern League Premier Central, Saturday, kick-off 3pm. Royston will be looking to get their first three away points after a draw against Bedford Town on Tuesday night while AFC Sudbury will be looking for their first win of the season after drawing against Banbury United and Biggleswade Town. Our last league match there was a 1-1 draw with James Brighton scoring an absolute rocket of a free kick, but former Royston player Joe Neal salvaged a last minute equaliser to share the spoils.

Next up Royston Town Women kick off their league campaign when they host Luton Town Ladies in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, Sunday, kick-off 2pm. Our last meeting was at home with Royston Town winning 2-0 with Emma Slater and Annie Georgiou getting our goals, we hope for another win although it’s the opening game of the season it will be a tough game between 2 very good sides aiming for promotion this season and three points for either side is a massive boost.

Last up is Royston Town Reserves and the fixtures are coming through thick and fast, when in matchday 5 they host Long Buckby AFC in the Spartan South Midlands Division One. Our last home meeting against Long Buckby AFC was a 4-1 win with a Jack Davis, Danny Baulk and a Charlie Castle brace. This season Long Buckby AFC have a 50% win record while Royston Town Reserves have a 25% win record. Royston Town Reserves will be hoping to get another three home points on the board after Tuesday’s night home defeat against AFC Welwyn.
