TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – 14th & 15th Sept

Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women and Royston Town Reserves.

 

First up, Royston Town are back in cup action when they travel to Essex to take on Aveley in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town and Aveley last met in a competitive cup competition in the FA Trophy Preliminary Round when both clubs were at Step 4 back then, the first season Royston were back at Step 4 since 1994 and first ever FA Trophy match and the tie was on Saturday 15th September 2012 so only one day out. Royston Town won 5-1 that day with Matt Standen opening up the scoring before Aveley scored through Billy Holland but within 60 minutes the tie was over when Royston scored three goals within four minutes through Matt Standen, Ryan Ingrey and Ryan Lockett and at the end of the game Ryan Lockett scored a 5th for the Crows.

We are running a supporters coach to the game from King James Way Town Hall Car Park by the civic centre with departure at 12.30pmC and it is £12 per person.

 

Next up, Royston Town Women are on the road for a 2nd time out of 4 consecutive away matches but stay in the county and travel to the Herts FA County Ground in Letchworth when they take on local rivals Stevenage Women in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, Sunday, 2pm kick-off. Our last meeting against Stevenage Women was in the final game of last season when Royston Town Women and Stevenage Women drew 4-4 with Emma Slater scoring a hat trick and Stacey Roper put Royston 4-1 up before Stevenage came back.

Last up, Royston Town Reserves are also away when they travel to Northamptonshire to take on Rothwell Corinthians in the Spartan South Midlands Division One, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town lost 4-2 here last time out with Kian Harness and Danny Baulk getting our goals. Rothwell Corinthians nickname is in the name and the club is 10 years away from being 100 years old.
