TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – 26th & 27th October

Hi,, and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves, and Royston Town Vets.

 

First up, Royston Town take a league break when they travel to St Ives to take on local rivals Cambridge City in the FA Trophy 1st Round, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town and Cambridge City will meet for the first time in the FA Trophy, Royston reached the first round proper by beating Lowestoft Town away in the last qualifying round 3-2 while Cambridge City had to win 3 qualifying rounds. Cambridge City beat King’s Langley 2-0 at home and won away at Newmarket Town 3-1 and beat higher opposition and our league opponents AFC Sudbury 1-0.

Next up, Royston Town Women also have a league break when they host Colney Heath Ladies in Round 2 of the Eastern Region Women’s League Cup, Sunday, 2pm kick-off. Royston Town Women have met Colney Heath in the League Cup before back in January 14th 2018 in Round 3. Royston Town Women won the match 5-0 with Becky Shephard, Sammy Tinsley and a hat- trick from Frankie Smithers. Colney Heath Ladies now play under St Albans City Ladies and Colney Heath Ladies reformed in the 2023/24 season.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves also have a local game when they travel to Langford FC in the Spartan South Midlands Division One, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town Reserves will be looking for a 4th straight win on the bounce after beating London Colney a fortnight ago. They also picked up 6 points by beating Huntingdon at home on Saturday and then beat them away 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Last up, Royston Town Vets have a cup game – like the First Team and the Women’s side – except it’s a 2nd week running when they host Welywn Village Yellow Vets in the Championship League Cup Group Stage – Group A, Sunday, 10:00am kick-off.
