TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – Dec 14th & 15th

Hi, and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves, and Royston Town Vets.

First up, Royston Town travel to Worcestershire to take on Bromsgrove Sporting in the Southern League Premier Central on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off. Neither side played last weekend with Storm Darragh, However, Royston Town hosted Halesowen Town on Tuesday night and won the game 1-0 with a late Ben Weyman header to put a massive 3 points on the board. Royston Town will be hoping for another 3 points this weekend and so will the hosts who are in desperate need of points. Royston’s last match against Bromsgrove was a 1-0 win for the Crows with Demaray Anyadike getting the goal.

Next up, Royston Town Women play their final match of 2024 when they have their 6th consecutive away game in a row. They travel down the A10 to North London once again this time taking on Enfield Town Ladies FC in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, Sunday, 2pm kick-off. Royston Town Women are hoping to add more points on the board with Luton Town Ladies not having another league game. Royston are 6 points clear and hoping to extend their lead at the top. Enfield Town Ladies are 16 years older than their men’s side it was founded in 1985 and played under the name Merryhill Midgets until they linked up with Enfield Town in 2003.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves host Cranfield United in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston have yet to beat Cranfield United in a league match after 1 draw and 2 losses. Royston Reserves are hoping to get revenge on them after a 4-1 defeat early on in the season.

Last up, Royston Town Vets travel to Bedwell Rangers Athletic Vets in the Herts Vets Championship League Cup Group Stage, Sunday, 10am kick-off. Royston beat them 5-1 in the Challenge Cup but need to do the same again to keep their hopes alive of reaching the knockout stages.
