A great day was had by all as Royston played their last game of the season and were lucky enough to play it at Royston Town FC. The game started at a blistering pace with both teams looking to attack at every opportunity. Man of the match Cameron almost put Royston ahead after a great turn and run only to see his shot go narrowly wide. However it was FC Comets that opened the scoring with a breakaway goal slightly against the run of play. Urged on by the crowd Royston hit back quickly when Tom G won the ball and played it back to Conor who sent a fantastic ball over the top to Bradley who in turn found Jamie who used his pace to breeze past a couple of defenders and send a rocket of a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net. This really spurred Royston on and could have scored a couple more, one from George (who had missed the last 4 games after chipping a bone in his foot) and another chance from the constant goal threat that is called Cameron. However half time came with the scores level at 1-1. The second half started much the same as the first with both teams looking to attack but both defences played very well. Half way through the half Royston picked up the pace again and following several shots at the Comets goal up stepped James to score his second goal in three games. Comets responded with some great football and looked very dangerous with every attack however the back four of Owen, Josh, Troy and Conor dealt with everything that was thrown at them. This was end to end stuff now with both teams squandering several chances until Jordan scored from close range following another powerful run and cross from Cameron. It was a fantastic team performance, a great experience at a top class venue with outstanding support.
