Once again The Town opened up with some fine attacking football and went very close on 2 occasions in the 1st 15 minutes forcing great saves from the visiting ‘keeper.

The Crows paid a heavy price for their possession football with both CONOR DE LACY and ROBERT GWYNNE being forced to withdraw from the action following severe tackles. This forced the home side into a re-shuffle which ironically led to the 1st goal with JOHN BITTING taking a driven corner which LEE BATES converted with a powerful header minutes after coming off the bench.

At the interval, Town took the time to reassess their options and again started the brighter of the 2 teams and SCOTT CROSK extended the lead 7 minutes after the break with a powerful angled drive. Cockfosters then enjoyed a spell of possession of their own which led to Royston conceding through an own goal from the otherwise faultless performance of DAVID CAIN.

Refusing to panic and led by skipper BITTING, the ressies again slowly began to wrestle control of the game and AARON HARVEY & LEE BATES both had chances to wrap the game up before BATES did just that with a 2nd headed goal.
