A Convincing Win

At last we got a game on!! Full marks to the ground staff who have done an immense job to not only get the game played but created a surface that was very soft but easily playable to enable the match to go ahead.

It was really important for us to get the game played because although still 10 weeks to go to the end of the season we had 15 games to fit in before today and a fixture pile up is the last thing we need!!

A very convincing 6-0 win for us! Petersfield will moan about their lad being sent off and truthfully I think they have a point but we showed no mercy and in the end 6 flattered them a bit in my opinion.

They did have a penalty brilliantly saved by the superb Joe Welch, as is his job but bar that they hardly threatened. Fair play to them though, they came with an extremely young team who worked their socks off but to no avail. They are certainly not the worst team in the league.

For us it was pleasing for not only the score line but the clean sheet which improved our goal difference greatly.

My biggest “Problem” is keeping all these great “1st Team” players happy!

We did make 3 changes and brought on Frates, Rod and John Frendo. Unfortunately that meant Danny May and Spyros Mentis didn’t get any action at all! If you include Gus Scott-Morriss, Ryan Ingrey and Chris Watters into the frame then that’s a lot of lads to juggle about with.

A classic example of this is John Frendo being left out by the “Understudy” in Matt Nolan.

Matt came to us knowing that probably he would be a sub that would come on if John was flagging towards the end of games. John was unavailable for selection during January and Matt joined the club. He has played and scored 8 goals in 4 matches! An unbelievable achievement so when it comes to picking the team I’m sure John, who has been round football long enough will not be happy but hopefully can understand my thinking!! I know all the boys want to play and I will do my best to do everything with as much integrity as possible.

Cheers,
SC
