Convincing Win

Hello to everyone.

A good win away at Ware to report on this morning. A convincing 4-1 scoreline with goals from Jack Bradshaw(2 Pens), Simon Thomas and Ryan Ingrey.

It wasn’t all plain sailing and a young Ware team got themselves in front early on. A fine strike by their left winger put us on the back foot but not for long. The excellent Rhys Hoenes ran at the Ware backline only to be upended and quiet rightly a penalty was awarded. Jack commandingly struck his shot in to the net to put us back level. The second was much the same as the first goal to put us 2-1 ahead. Rhys had yet another stake in the third. yet again he ran at their backline causing absolute mayhem, this time getting his shot off, a good stop by their goalkeeper but all he could do was parry the effort into the waiting Simon Thomas to score his debut goal!!

End of half and into the dressing room to be told that nothing has been won and a 90 minute performance is wanted. If I have a problem with these guys it’s the fact we hardly ever put in a complete show, harsh I hear you say but true in my opinion. The boys came out, started slow but were convincing winners at the end. Ryan adding to the score line with an expertly taken effort on the hour mark.

ALL the lads were tremendous tonight. On a difficult surface they played sufficient football to win the game. For me sometimes the mark of a good player is knowing when the ball has to be brought down and when it has to go in to row Z!! Most of the lads in most situations got that right last night. A special mention to Erkan Okay who I thought had his best game since his debut at Wingate.

This has certainly given me a headache for Saturday now. Scott Bridges to come back in and a really strong bench who are chomping to play.

Northwood next and a very tough game in store. From their perspective it will be win against us and they are right back into the promotion race. Ours is that we can start to look once again at the league leaders and how we are going to catch them!

It’s an exciting time at the moment. The team that will win the league this year will be the team with most consistent performances, maybe not always winning but grafting for points and not dropping any “Silly” ones.

We are up their probably along with 3 or 4 other teams are looking to push on. For me one game at a time! Northwood is the most important because it’s the next one up. Then North Greenford and so on. Hopefully we can stay free from injuries and keep everyone firing but ALWAYS remain positive.

Cheers,
SC
