FRIDAY NIGHT’S ALRIGHT FOR FOOTBALL

Get that Friday feeling by signing up for a new football project in Royston.
The ten-week project, which starts on Friday, January 10, is aimed at those aged 16 and up who want to enjoy a game of football in relaxed surroundings.
The Meridian School will be hosting one-hour sessions every Friday, with the final three weeks of the programme dedicated to a tournament played between participants from each of the three North Hertfordshire centres involved in the project.
Ken Headington, the Hertfordshire FA’s Football Development Officer for adult football, said: “Whether you want to play football but lack the confidence to join a team, are a former player who wants to get back into the sport, or are simply looking for a way to stay fit, this project is for you.”
All sessions will be played on modern, 3G Astroturf pitches and overseen by qualified coaches. The project is being part-funded by the Herts Sports Partnership through the Sportivate scheme, and a nominal £1 fee per session will be charged.
Session times and details are as follows:
  • 6pm-7pm: The Meridian School, Garden Walk, Royston, SG8 7JH
