Frozen Pitch Frustration
Hi Everyone.
Latest game called off against Goldalming on Saturday brought its own frustration but I think the right decision was made by the referee. The pitch had been cut up from the midweek Herts Senior Cup game against Watford and unfortunately a frost had got on to the pitch. Parts were soft and parts were very hard. I think the fact there was two different surfaces brought about the cancellation of the game.
Back to our game against Watford in midweek. I changed things slightly. Bringing in several lads that hadn't got much football of late for various reasons. Nightsey, Ross, Kaan, Theo and Ron Yates all came in while a few were 'rested' but we had a strong team against an equally strong Watford team. We started very well and deservedly so went ahead by Kaan converting a Jack Bradshaw cross. Watford quickly replied and went in front soon after. I thought that we made it far too easy for them to get back into the game. I appreciate the fact that the lad who scored for them was a top class player but all the same, I believe we could have made it harder for them! We went in at half time 2-1 down but fair play to our boys they kept in the game for the majority of the second period and even had a couple of chances to equalise before Watford scored in the dying minutes to make the score line far more flattering to them than the match suggested!
We trained on Thursday night and for me the general feeling of everyone there was upbeat looking forward to the games coming up. I have a few selection headaches now what with most lads being fit and available to play. At last we have two goalkeepers to choose from now. Ron and Dominic are both first class keepers and for me there has to be competition for places to push each other. Whatever the position!!
Here's to our game against Uxbridge being on. I feel it's important to keep the games coming thick and fast and for us to get on to a decent run. Hopefully carrying on Tuesday!!
Cheers,
SC
