In the Right Direction

Well!

We are making hard work of things aren’t we!

Great to see a good crowd at Garden Walk today, unfortunately not to see us win the League. With results elsewhere not going in our favour we couldn’t have won it today but three points would have secured our destiny for next week.

With the one point we gained it’s still going in the right direction but as is the performance levels we have set is a disappointment to all.

The game was a closely fought encounter. Us going up early but Kempston staying in the match and equalising before half time.

We shuffled things around and changed our shape slightly. For me it was to go and win the game. Matt Nolan came on and almost immediately put us back in front, we then stretched the lead and although the result filtered to us that Farnborough were 4-1 up, we had the comfort of a 2-goal advantage so we could only do what we could on the day and claim the 3 points on offer.

We shot ourselves in the foot by gifting a second to them but responded by getting a fourth quickly.

Fair play to Kempston they kept pushing and exploited unusually slack defending on our part to get a share of the spoils.

The lads were devastated! They knew they had let themselves down. Hopefully this disappointment can be the catalyst to push us over the line.

We now have two away games coming up. Northwood and then Fleet. 4 points is what we need.

We will prepare as normal and hope our injured lads declare themselves available. The squad is strong and their challenge now is to perform as they have done for the majority of the season especially defensively.

Cheers
