Play-Offs: Exciting Times
Hi to you all,
An update on recent events coming up including our last match, plus the feeling of the boys in the squad going into this crucial stage of the season.
Let's start with the game v Chalfont on Saturday. I'm sure we all were looking for a positive result before the match. I know I certainly was. The fact that we are probably reflecting and disappointed with a draw is a measure of our expectancy levels now. To be honest it wasn't a good game, the conditions and a severe lack of quality from both sides in the final third culminated in a dour 0-0 scoreline.
Lately we have had so many highs that it's unrealistic to expect 3 points week in week out! That said the fact that we kept our defensive record going was pleasing. My disappointment was how we lacked belief in front of goal and lacked movement in the final third, especially in the box! During training over the last few weeks we have concentrated mainly on quality crosses/runs into the penalty area. These lads have a lot of talent and can quite easily do what is asked but sometimes a lack of concentration or whatever it is they let themselves down! We should be buzzing at the moment. Everyone should be positive and looking to score or create at every opportunity. They certainly get the encouragement from us to express themselves.
A special mention to both Chris Watters and Ryan Ingrey, "Ingers" got brought off Saturday at half time. Nothing to do with his performance, it was to get Kaan some much needed game time ahead of the coming matches. It's the end of the season for him due to a very unfair suspension. Thanks Ryan! Your attitude has been first class. I'm sure the boys will be doing their upmost for both you and Chris to achieve our goals! Mentioning Chris, In my opinion another that has been very unfortunate with an unjust suspension, with Chris however he only has a two game ban so may play some part in the proceedings!
As things stand we go into the last game of the season guaranteed a play-off place and a win against Rugby puts us in second place. That is our aim. Whoever we play after that will be tough but we must have the belief that we can take on any of them!
I feel it's a very exciting time down at "Garden Walk" so please get your family/friends to attend. To make an atmosphere around the lads would be great and would help us out immensely.
Cheers,
SC
