They Were All Heroes

A very eventful evening at Garden Walk tonight with “The Crows” coming out on top in a tightly fought encounter against high flying Hampton & Richmond by 2 goals to 1!!

Strangely enough I didn’t think we were at our best in terms of playing but the general attitude of everyone saw us through.

Yet again Chris and I had tough choices to make, bringing in Adam Murray to the fold at the expense of the unlucky Danny May. Nothing that Dan did wrong but I went with a bigger back line ensuring we were superior aerially and a bit more of a threat at set plays.

We all have different views on team selection but we went with what we thought would give us the best chance to win it and tonight it paid off.

The Trophy will be important is not our priority, the League is that but we want to compete in every game. The Trophy is great and to progress is not only good for the club but also keeping the lads belief that we can beat clubs from a level we are all trying to get to.

I cannot speak highly enough about the squad. They are superb lads, all rooting for each other and showing full support to everyone involved.

I am especially happy for the Chairman and the board who have backed the boys to the hilt! Thanks for that and hopefully we have done you proud!!

The First Round Proper to come on Saturday against very tough opponents in Dulwich away. If we aspire to our target of promotion this season we will be playing week in week out against teams from this standard so yet again a great test for our lads, one that I’m sure they will relish and compete once again.

To single out any one person wouldn’t be right, they were all heroes tonight. Well done lads you deserve all the plaudits owed!!

Cheers
