TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – 12th & 13th October

Hi and welcome to this weekend preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves and Royston Town Vets.

 

First up, Royston Town Women take a break from league action when they host Bungay Town Ladies in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Women’s FA Cup this Sunday in a 2pm kick-off. Royston Town’s opponents Bungay Town Women play 2 leagues below in the Norfolk Women & Girls Football League with wins against Cambridge Rangers Women 11-1 and higher league opposition Newmarket Town Women 2-0, while Royston knocked out league rivals Haringey Borough 3-1 both Royston and Bungay have a 100% record in the league. Although the town of Bungay is in Suffolk the football ground is in Norfolk. Until 1890, Garden Walk was in Cambridgeshire when Royston was split between Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, but the football club played in Hertfordshire.

Next up, Royston Town are back in league action when they travel to the Midlands for the first time this season to take on Stourbridge in the Southern League Premier League Central, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town have not picked up a single point at Stourbridge after playing them 4 times, so hopefully 5th time a charm. Royston Town have also enjoyed 2 cup wins after winning at fellow league rivals Lowestoft Town in the FA Trophy and against Welywn Garden City in the Herts Senior Challenge Cup. Stourbridge’s ground is also considered to be the oldest in the league since playing there since 1888.

 

 

Admission Prices: Adults £13 / 65+ £10 / 13-17 year olds £7 / 6-12 year olds £5.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves are back at home when they host county and league rivals London Colney in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One on Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town Reserves and London Colney are both desperate for a much needed 3 points.

Last up, Royston Town Vets host Sandridge Rovers Vets in the Herts Vets League on Sunday, 10:30am kick-off. Royston Town Vets have made a perfect start with 3 wins in a row with a 5-3 victory against Welwyn Village Yellow last Sunday, Royston Town Vets will be looking to extend their lead.
