CROWS BLOG: A GAME OF TWO HALVES

Hi everyone!

I hope all is good with everyone.

First things first, a massive well done to our Royston Town Women’s team who yesterday progressed to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup with an emphatic victory over Sprowston Ladies!

Brilliant achievement ladies – well done!  We are all proud of you! Fingers crossed you get a nice home draw in the next round and we can progress even further!

On to Saturday and yet again a total game of 2 halves!

1st half, we were not at the races at all! We didn’t deal with set plays and never really got going.  But in the 2nd half –  what a difference!  We won more tackles, delivered much more positive play and ultimately scored 3 very good goals that on another day would and could have brought us maximum points home.

I know the obvious question is why?? And honestly, I don’t know. We have tried different approaches towards the preparation of games. Having said that, it’s not always the second half that we improve. The other week against Ilkeston we started brightly enough only to be very lethargic in the second! It’s a really frustrating time and I feel that as much as you guys do.

Of course, certain players not being available doesn’t help our cause but we can’t and mustn’t use that as a reason. Individually and collectively we need to be far more consistent. I have said to the group and I really do believe this –  it’s not a case of ability but it is about belief in themselves and each other!

Hopefully, we will look back on this ‘tough time’ and reflect on it after getting back on track. It will happen and we all have to believe this. A positive run of results will quickly put us back where we want to be, just keep the faith and we’ll be alright!
