CROWS BLOG: FOOTBALL BEING FOOTBALL

CROWS BLOG: FOOTBALL BEING FOOTBALL

Hi

Well, what a difference in this blog compared to my last one. The previous blog was an uplifting one and I for one really thought we had turned a corner and with a win last night we could have moved into the playoff spots!

But no, football being football, we served up a dismal performance and got exactly what we deserved – nothing!

Fair play to Barwell. They have hardly been setting things alight so far this season but their finishing was very good and they earned their win against us. We only have ourselves to blame for the result. Not at any level in the game can you make the mistakes that we made and expect to get a positive outcome.

As I said, that performance was so unexpected because the grit and determination that got us the points on Saturday just were not there last night. We must find some consistency in our season but ultimately we need to start with not conceding goals as freely and easily as we are doing presently.

The crazy thing is IF we now go on to get 3 points this Saturday away to Redditch we will still be up there but we all know that we are not getting it right and we need to work on that and address it now!

Yes,  there were a lot of lads not available last night but that was also the case on Saturday. At times like this everyone needs to step up.

It’s a little hard to say with last night’s display still firmly in our minds but we need to dust ourselves down and get back on course. There may be some adjustments to achieve that but we are determined to get back on it!

A short but sweet blog this time and not too drippy because I know you guys don’t want to hear that too much. You, like me, want some positivity. There wasn’t much last night but the season is still in its infancy so plenty of time to get it right.

Cheers

Steve C
