Got to Mention: Cup Success

A busy day for me yesterday but very rewarding!!

I'm not sure if you know but my main DAY job is at Oaklands College running a Football programme there.

We had three games yesterday. Firstly against the new Royston set up run by my friend Danny Gibson and you battered us 12-0!!
Mixed feelings about that one but the day for me got better and better!! Our second team won 3-0 and our firsts won 5-0.

Now I only mention this to lead on to the Clubs under 18's cup tie because a couple of my College lads joined the 18's to help out.

Along with the boys I also offered my services to help out because Liam was away. So after College we went down to meet the rest of the lads at Bowers & Pitsea. I must say what a great bunch they are!! We started so brightly and quickly got themselves 2-0 up. The nerves were evident for both teams but our great start was slightly halted by a penalty awarded to the home team. They put it away and it took the lads a while to settle back down. The third came before half time and a good 45 mins was had by us!!

As with most cup ties Bowers had to push forward which put us on the back foot somewhat but fair play to our boys when out of the blue we managed a fourth to effectively kill the game. Plenty of tired legs out there and a second from Bowers brought a little bit of drama towards the end we thoroughly deserved our win and I for one will be there to support in the next round!!
