Hi Everyone,

Wanted to post this because I feel it is very good news and also to mention the Under 18's cup tie!

Firstly I got a call from our Secretary Terry McKinnell late on Sunday night regarding an approach from a Step 3 club wanting the services of Paul Bastock!! Paul has been tremendous since he has been with us and I could hear the concern in Terry's voice! I tried to assure him that I didn't think he would want to go but you never know with these things! I rang Paul up straight away, he wasn't available so I left him a voicemail telling him of the interest. Now, not all managers do this but my feelings are that sooner or later the player gets to know about it and especially with Baz we have an honest relationship and always have had. I am aware that he is enjoying life with us, so was hopeful he wouldn't be going anywhere. As expected I got a text from Baz stating he had no interest.

The reason I wanted everyone to know is because for me it shows how ALL the lads are feeling towards the club and the season in general. I sense a belief that they feel this could be a successful time here and they want to be part of it!!

While I'm on I want to wish the Under 18's all the best for their Wednesday FA Youth Cup game at Bowers & Pitsea, I'll be there. Hopefully they can recreate their great performance against Romford. Liam is away, so I've offered my services to Jay – his assistant. I'll only be there to help as it is their cup run and their team but if I can help in any way I'll be privileged to do so!!
