High flying Royston travelled to near neighbours Buntingford on Saturday for a Herts Intermediate Cup game and very nearly came away with a bone shattering defeat.
After 3 clean sheets and some 13 goals scored,Royston came into this game very much inform and after just 14 seconds JOSH BRONTI raced clear and fired inches wide in the visitors 1st attack.
Roystons confident swagger was rocked by a punt into the box and looping header that caught their usually reliable defence in 2 minds and within minutes they were further behind with Buntingford showing more hunger and desire as the ball was bundled into the Royston net.
Skipper GREGG JACKSON restored some pride for The Crows with a typical edge of the box finish and the scores were levelled when a Home defender diverted a DANNY APOSTOLOS cross into his own net.
Royston took the lead when a mazy JAMES MERIDETH run was coolly slotted home by DALTON O'BRIEN and the game was put to bed when JACKSON again found the net.
Manger Kev Wilson said of his sides performance" Words simply fail me today. We prepared for this game as we would any other. JB and myself will be having a lengthy chat to make sure we don't perform like this in the league."
