A dominant second half performance saw Royston overturn a half time deficit to record a deserved 2-1 victory against Redditch.
The first half was a fairly even affair as both sides looked to get the ball down and play. For the home side John Frendo saw a shot saved, whilst Joseph Thomas saw his shot blocked by team mate Kevin De Veiga Monteiro, preventing Redditch taking the lead.
Shortly afterwards Redditch did take the lead as a wayward Royston pass was fed through to the prolific Spencer Weir-Daley, who gleefully shot home to give the away side the half time lead.
Royston were not behind for long as within 22 seconds of the start of the second half they were level. Scott Bridges collected the ball in the Redditch penalty area, in the process attracting three defenders. This created space for Martel Powell and he collected Bridges pass to bury a shot into the bottom corner.
Nine minutes later Weir-Daley had a chance to restore Redditch’s lead but home stopper Joe Welch was out quickly to block his effort.
What turned out to be the winner arrived in the 59th minute as Bridges converted an easy tap in, following a good save by Ethan Ross from Frendo’s low shot.
Both sides had further chances, with Welch making a good low save with 5 minutes to go, but in the end it was Royston who took the 3 points.
