Wisbech Town Vets 1 Royston Town Vets 4
The long journey to Wisbech for Royston Town Vets on Sunday proved to be well worth the effort as they came away with a thoroughly deserved 4-1 win in the Cambs FA Vets League 1 match.
The hosts took an early when a high cross from the left wing dropped over 'keeper Simon Dobson's head into the net. Royston gradually took control of the game in terms of possession but failed to convert that into goals in the first half.
Royston equalised early in the second half when Stuart Snowden's fierce free kick from 20 yards was diverted by a defender past a helpless 'keeper. Andy Knight gave Royston the lead when his shot hit the crossbar and he followed up the rebound to head a goal on debut for the Vets. Royston piled on the pressure and were rewarded with further goals from Geoff Pinner with a shot from 30 yards and Steve McGhee who converted a right wing cross to complete the scoring.
The Vets are at home to Great Shelford Vets in the Cambs Invitation Cup next week.
