Histon U18 0 v Royston Town U18 2
Royston’s new look U18 squad got their league campaign underway with a good away victory over the ‘Stutes’.
During a nervous first 10 minutes Royston were indebted to ‘keeper Ben Dolman for a fine near post save after a poor back pass was intercepted. Gradually the Crows gained some momentum and widemen Jack Davis and Daniel Baulk began to open up the home defence.
On 24 mins a slick passing move set Kyle Augustine free on the left and his run and low cross was coolly finished off by Ethan Morley.
Histon created two chances during their best spell of play whilst at the other end Daniel Baulk had two shots well saved by the home keeper and the Crows forced a series of corners just before the break
HT 0-1
Histon made some substitutions at half time but to no avail as Royston’s midfield trio of Joe Babbage, Ethan Morley & Josh Davies now looked in control and when on 70 minutes Jake Bentley headed in Davis’ near post corner the Crows looked far more confident and began to dominate the play.
Sushhanth Sugarmaran was given offside by the narrowest of margins as Daniel Baulk’s low drive ended up in the net as Town piled on the pressure.
Royston had numerous attempts on goal in the final 15 minutes but were denied any further goals by some excellent saves from the ‘Stutes’ keeper.
Overall a satisfactory start with many good individual performances
