It’s the “FINAL” countdown.
Royston town U10 girls travelled to Bury Rangers with a place in the Div 2 shield final at stake, and it was Town who started the fastest and were unlucky not to take an early lead as a snap shot from Ellie scrapped the top of the bar. With Taiah and Lydia marshalling the defence this allowed the busy Bryony the freedom to run at the Bury defence. From one of these runs the ball fell to Ellie on the edge of the area to fire Royston into the lead. Bury came more into the game but could not find a way past Katie in goal as the first half finished 1-0 to Town.
The second half began much the same as the first with Emer and Aimee not giving the Bury defence any time on the ball. With Izzy running box to box Royston were unlucky not to extend their lead as a shot from Katie now out of goal grazed the post. With Royston becoming nervous as the minutes ticked by Bury threw everything at them to get an equalizer but could not find a way past the defensive pairing of Olivia and Kathryn.
