Royston progressed in the League Cup with a deserved win against Division One opposition. The scoreline suggests a close encounter but in truth the side dominated long periods with continued sloppiness moments always keeping their opponents in the contest.
Callum Turner opened the scoring reacting on a goalkeepeing error to convert before Roebuck levelled. A Joe Maude cross then deceived the keeper at the far post and dropping in before Joe again scored with an excellent 25 yard chipped shot over the keeper.
In complete control of the game two poor defensive goals hauled Roebuck level before Jordan Hall smashed home a left wing cross just before half time.
Royston piled on excessive pressure in the second half but Roebuck again levelled with pretty much their only chance of the second half. It tood until mid way through the half until decisive close range goals from Callum Slade and Callum Turner in quick succession sent the team into the second round draw
