ROYSTON TOWN FC v PETERBOROUGH SPORTS FC
Saturday 7th December 2019
A second-half 4 goal salvo saw Royston comfortably see off Peterborough Sports.
It was a dominant display throughout from the Crows, although they had to wait until the second half for their superiority to show through.
Two quickfire goals just after the hour mark were the springboard to victory. Adam Watkins close control and skill created the space for Luke Warner-Eley to put in a pin-point cross that was met by a bullet header from Adam Murray to give the home side the lead. This was quickly followed by a fine run and shot from Claudio Ofosu that found the back of the net via the underside of the bar.
The third goal soon followed in the 77th minute as substitute Matt Bateman timed his run to perfection to glance a header into the top corner from another excellent Warner-Eley cross.
Peterborough gained themselves a consolation goal in injury time as Daniel Lawlor confidently converted a penalty after Harold Joseph had been adjudged to bundle over an away forward.
There was still time for Royston to restore their 3 goal advantage though, as Murray was left with an easy tap in after away keeper Lewis Moat had done well to block Ofosu’s initial effort, leaving the Crows with a convincing home victory.
