ROYSTON TOWN FC v REDDITCH UNITED FC

Royston extended their unbeaten home run in the league to 10 matches as they shared the points with Redditch United.

The Reds of Redditch came into the game having not claimed 3 points on their travels since October and in truth, neither side ever looked likely to do enough to get the 3 points.

The windy and general conditions didn’t help either side and the first 25 minutes was a complete non-event as the sides cancelled each other out. The first effort came in the 26th minute as home goalkeeper Louis Chadwick comfortably gathered away skipper Reece Flanagan’s shot.

Both sides had loud shouts for penalties turned down as Adam Murray claimed he was wrestled to the ground off the ball before Harry Reilly looked to be caught late by MacKye Townsend West, but both claims were waved away.

The best chance of the half fell to Danny King as the home defence went to sleep. A long free kick found King clear on goal but Chadwick was quickly out to block his effort.

The second half followed the same vein, as a distinct lack of quality meant defences remained firmly on top. The ball spent most of the time in the air as both sides struggled to string any passes together. The Crows’ best chance fell to Murray who latched onto a long Cole Dasilva ball, but Adam Harrison was quickly out of his goal to smother his effort. For The Reds a Ryan Wollacott downward header from a deep corner was saved by Chadwick at his near post, ensuring both sides kept their clean sheets intact and gained a point that doesn’t really help either side.
