Royston Town Women earned another three points in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, against Luton Town Ladies after a few weeks away from any action. There was a few changes to the squad with Lily Hall missing, while Nicole Hendrick, Amy Josland and Jess Morley were listed as substitutes, while Jordanne Sillitoe, Laura Mills and Emma Slater also returned after missing the last game but to the starting 11 while Katie White and Emma Todd also returned to the squad.
There were chances for both teams, however Royston Town broke the deadlock in the half hour mark when Emma Slater blazed down the pitch and the keeper came out to put the pressure on but wasn’t quick enough and Emma Slater finished calm and collectively to put the crows in front. Royston were searching for another goal to extend their lead but had to wait until the 2nd half and they did that when Annie Georgiou’s very good free kick caught Luton Town Ladies out however there was a debate about the goal as the ball hit the underside crossbar and we don’t know if it bounced over the line and back out or it didn’t cross the line and there was also another debate if it was either an own goal or Amy Josland scored, but regardless of what happened we’re happy with any goal scored.
