On Bank Holiday Monday, Royston Town hosted Leiston and made just the two changes from Saturday’s game with Ed Afasu-Adjaye replacing James Brighton and Ron Henry returning from suspension replacing Josh Dawodu.
After a few chances from Leiston it looked likely that they would take the lead, however Royston took the lead in twelve mins after a pass into the box from Damaray Anyadike to Andronicos Georgiou took the ball with the chest and the ball dropped to his left foot and a low volley into the box. However eleven minutes later Leiston equalised after a header down from Ashley Boatswain and George Quantrell slotted the ball past Rylee Mitchell. In the second half just on the hour mark Adam Murray was pulled down in the box which certainly looked like a penalty but the ref waived the appeal which Leiston broke away and scored after George Quantrell drove the ball away and found Jamar Loza who found the back of the net. After thinking it could be one of those days we found ourselves level nine minutes later when Sam Donkin’s goal kick went straight to Ed Afasu- Adjaye and with Sam Donkin being so far out of his goal Ed’s took a one touch and shot from 40 yards to draw Royston level again. Then carnage happened just a minute later Leiston were reduced to ten men after Ross Crane was shown a second yellow card and about two minutes later Royston found themselves in the lead when Daniel Baulk who had only been on for six minutes put the Crows ahead when he finished from close range after Adam Murray’s header was saved. Then eight minutes later the keeper was out of his position again and after a pass to Alfie Williams he had a shot from 35 yards to put Royston 4-2 up and that’s how it ended.
